minutesThis is a Rolls recipe I've adapted a few years back. It makes about 12 rolls, depending on how you decide to divide the dough. There's probably not enough flour in the Ingredients list. (If you're outside of the US, here's a useful conversion tool for US cups to grams)
Ingredients
2 cups flour + more on tap
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 envelope of yeast
½ teaspoon of salt
½ cup of whole milk
¼ cup of water
2 tablespoons of butter
Olive oil on tap
Garlic powder (optional)
Directions
- Pour the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl (¾ cups of flour, all the sugar, all the yeast, all the salt)
- Mix the dry ingredients so the yeast is uniformly mixed in
- Set a stove burner to low and pour all the wet ingredients in the pot (all the milk, water, and butter)
- Warm until the butter melts. The temperature should not go above ~ 120F (pinky finger should not be burned when checking temperature)
- Pour warmed wet ingredients into the mixing bowl and mix until cohesive
- Add in the rest of the flour (1 ¼ cup) and mix until doughy
- Add in more flour until the dough becomes easy to handle, less sticky
- Take dough out of the mixing bowl and place on a floured surface. Knead until tough (roughly 2 minutes).
- Clean the mixing bowl (or get a new one)
- Form dough into a ball, pour the excess flour into the bowl, then lightly place the dough into the center of the bowl. Make sure it’s smooth.
- Cover the bowl with a towel and leave in a dark place. The more you wait, the better. Overnight is best, but a few hours works too.
- After the arduous waiting period, take the dough out and divide it into 12 pieces. Place them in a baking pan.
- Cover the baking pan with a large towel and wait about 30 minutes for them to rise even more.
- Drizzle olive oil on top of each roll. Pro tip: add garlic powder for a slight twist of garlic knotty goodness.
- Pre-heat oven to 375 F (190 C).
- Bake rolls for 20 minutes, or until golden brown on the top.
- Serve!
